Protect your part loads as much as possible during transport

It is crucial to pack your pallet goods properly to avoid damage, and you can do this in different ways:

  1. Make the high centre of gravity apparent
The higher the centre of gravity of your part load, the greater the risk that it may tip over. Therefore, it is a good idea to make the highest centre of gravity visible.
  2. Leave room for the forklift or pallet lifter
If your pallet goods require a forklift or pallet lifter, you must ensure a ground clearance below the goods of at least 10 cm so that they can get under.
  3. Ensure the quality of the pallets
Make sure that the pallets on which you place your part loads are undamaged so that you do not risk the pallets, and thus the part loads, breaking.
  4. Pack the pallet securely
When packing the pallet, make sure that no goods protrude beyond the sides. For example, make sure not to pack the pallet all the way to the edge so that your pallet goods are not damaged during transportation.
  5. Avoid sharp edges on the goods
If your part loads have pointed edges, be sure to protect them. It both helps to protect your goods and minimises the risk of personal injury to those who transport the goods.
  6. Choose boxes of the right size and quality
If you pack your goods in boxes, choose good quality boxes. The better the quality, the more they can withstand. Choose the size of box that fits your pallet goods so you avoid too much empty space in the box.

A half pallet is 800 mm long and 600 mm wide, whereas a quarter pallet measures 600 mm long and 400 mm wide. Sometimes companies also use disposable pallets, either because of a shortage of Euro pallets or the low price of disposable pallets.
