New carrier in South Funen

2 October 2017

From 1 October, customers in South Funen and Ærø will have a new carrier in the area.

From 1st of October, the Funen-based carrier P. Olsen & Søn A/S will expand its distribution area. The company’s route currently covers Odense and North and West Funen, and will also cover South Funen when it takes over Einar Falch Transport A/S and route 824 between Svendborg and Faaborg.

The acquisition will not affect customers, who will still deal with the same employees.

‘We’re really looking forward to it. In these times, it’s always exciting when our business thrives’, says Managing Director Henrik Olsen, who won’t be making any changes to the staff.

‘As an old and serious freight business, we’ll continue Einer Falch’s route. He has a tradition of working seriously with his customers, and so do we’, he says.

With the route expansion, Peder Olsen & Søn will also need to get used to operating a ferry with daily trips to Ærø, and the director looks forward to that too. Two drivers live on the island and commute to Funen daily.

The company, which will celebrate its centenary in 2019, continues to operate from its terminal in Odense.

The South Funen route has 16 lorries and 18 drivers and is being sold by Einar Falch Transport because its director is retiring. With the acquisition, Funen will now be covered by the region’s two major carriers: Palle Holmegaard Transport A/S, which also drives for Danske Fragtmænd, and Peder Olsen & Son.
