Danske Fragtmænd builds new terminal in Esbjerg
25 April 2023
We are building an 11,000 square metre freight terminal and administration building close to the existing terminal in Esbjerg.
The 11,000 square metres are split between 10,500 square metres of warehouses, four of which are cross-dock halls and one is a long cargo hall, and a 500 square metre administration building with offices, meeting rooms and a canteen. The terminal replaces the existing terminal in Esbjerg, which, with more than 35 years of service, has now served its purpose. The new terminal will house our West Jutland freight carrier, Flemming Krogh A/S.
Bjarne Krogh Jensen, CEO of Flemming Krogh A/S, says:
- "The new terminal will provide much better working conditions for our employees. Both those on the floor and those in our administration. And our terminal will go from 4,000 square metres to more than 10,000 square metres. The expansion means that there is now actually room for us to carry out our work as efficiently as we are able to. The old one also gets windy as heck, as it has open ramps all the way round. The sluice gates at the ramps in the new terminal will help with that.
"The construction project is very much part of future-proofing our terminal in Esbjerg by building modern facilities. John Steinmejer, Danske Fragtmænd's Technical Manager, is therefore also very pleased with the project:
- "It's no secret that the old terminal has some conditions that are not up to date, which we would like to rectify. With the size of the new terminal, we are also prepared for future growth, plus we can operate significantly more efficiently. The same was the case when we took our newest terminal in Hammelev into use, where, among other things, the more square metres gave a better overview of the terminal, which saved a lot of hours in several areas.
Construction starts here in April and is expected to be completed by the summer of 2024.
